“You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream.” – C.S. Lewis
This quote is so close to my heart because I totally believe every word of it.
When I re-wind life to my childhood days, as early as when I was 4 years old, I remember spending my free time sketching and sketching and more sketching. My mother enrolled me and my two older sisters to a six year art course and man! I loved it with all my heart! I learned to sketch. I learned to paint. I learnt to observe. I learned to visualize. I learned to feel art flowing in me.
Then life took some happy predictable turns with studies, marriage, kids and work . . . however, my art got lost somewhere behind. Many decades later, when I picked up the paint brush again, I found that little artist girl alive in me somewhere, and I held on to her like a long lost friend.
I do various forms of art. I have taught myself a lot of new things: some by inspiration, some by a teacher, some by researching, and some by experimenting. I do oil paintings on canvas. I do acrylic art on used wine or liquor bottles. I do joint compound art on tiles (inspired by Carolyn Kinnison). I do stain art on wood, which I never knew existed. I do resin art on wood and tiles, which is a new found love. To me art and its forms are endless.
I also find lot of solace in serving the community through art. I donated my work for auction; the proceeds of which have gone to various foundations like STEM and Black United Fund of Michigan. I do free art sessions with residents of senior homes, which is priceless.
I put my heart and soul in whatever I create, big or small, because art is my meditation. It is my true calling!

The word ‘Sukoon’ means peace and contentment, and my art gives me just that.
